PDC Approved 3 Star Instructor Leanne Cook opens a new studio in Camberley, Surrey.
Approved pole dancing instructor Leanne Cook (nee Timms) is proud to be opening her very own pole dancing studio in Camberley, Surrey, UK.
We spoke to Leanne to find out more about her, her new studio and her school, Mind Body Pole.
L: I've been teaching in Community Centres for nearly 4 years and finally found somewhere suitable after a very long search. It was previously a shop and amazingly it's on the same road as the Centre I was teaching in!
I signed the lease on Friday 12th October and the launch night was on Friday 19th October, so we had one week to convert it from a run down shop that had been empty for weeks into the beautiful Pole Fitness Studio it now is. Me, my Husband, Sister, Brother-in-law and a friend worked every evening until it was finally ready, just an hour before everyone arrived for a pole jam (phew)!
In the photos you can actually see the builders through the window as they were finishing off the rendering........
I am so unbelievably pleased with my new studio - it's everything I dreamed it would be and more and I look forward to many more years of doing what I love in my very own venue :o)
Mind Body Pole:
L: I pride myself on being able to offer you something different - an exciting, fun and versatile form of exercise, away from the gym or sports centre! I welcome a huge variety of women each week and am able to adapt classes to suit everyone's individual needs.
The aim is to continue proving to people that pole dancing is a skill, a sport, a talent and an art form, which should not be frowned upon but applauded for the beautiful dance it really is.
Leanne Cook Biog:
L: Hi, my name's Leanne and I am a self-confessed pole addict!
My pole journey started in 2006, when I arrived as a podium dancer for the opening night in a London club and found there was a pole on stage. After doing the best I could with no pole dance experience, I was hooked. Goodbye podium, hello pole! This was when I decided to sign up for pole dancing lessons.
It sounds weird but I knew right from the start that pole dancing would change my life and I just had to share my passion; other women had to see the benefits of pole fitness. I started going to weekly classes and got a pole to put up at home so I could practice more often.
I was working in a bar a few evenings a week and decided to set up some special pole dancing evenings so the locals could give it a go. They went extremely well, with women of all ages, shapes and sizes coming along to give it a go.
I started teaching professionally in 2008, after being head hunted by one of the UK's most reputable pole schools. I loved every minute of being an instructor - seeing the nervous faces of the new beginners, knowing that in an hours time they will leave feeling completely different. Watching women accomplish harder moves each week, grow in self confidence, become stronger, more toned, more flexible and most importantly seeing the smiles (sometimes fear)! and hearing the laughter. It was time to put all my energy into making something more of this; so I launched Mind body and pole in 2010.
I started teaching at Mytchett Community Centre and as classes filled up and demand increased; I launched a second venue in 2011 in Bracknell at Forest Park Community Centre. This was quickly followed by a third venue at Wraysbury Village Hall, near Staines. As the expansion was going well; I took on a student as an Instructor to take over the Wraysbury venue. After extensive shadowing and training, the classes went well, her confidence grew and she has since moved on to set up her own pole school.
The time had come to start looking for a permanent base - my own studio where more classes can be held at times to suit everyone; so the search began. After 6 long months I finally found somewhere suitable and the Mind body and pole dedicated Pole Fitness Studio opened in October 2012!
As an instructor, I love to make my classes fun and get to know each student. Everyone is different, with different backgrounds, fitness levels, abilities and limitations. I have an eye for detail and can tell you what you're doing wrong if you are struggling to get a move. I can give you alternatives and adapt moves to suit each individual.
As an ex-student, I know how it feels arriving for your first class; most women are very nervous and don't know what to expect. I will put you at ease right from the start of the class and fill you with confidence and enthusiasm. You WILL leave wanting more - it's my personal mission!
I truly have made some friends for life through pole dancing and I genuinely look forward to seeing my students every week. Seeing the friendships that grow between my students has to be one of the best feelings in the world. You just don't get that in an aerobics class or on the treadmill!
Safety is always paramount and I will provide you with quality instruction throughout the duration of the class. I hold an Exercise to Music qualification, First Aid, Public Liability and Professional Indemnity insurance, a PPL Music Licence and am on the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs).
I am a 3 Star Approved Instructor and an Authorised AAP Grading Assessor with the Pole Dance Community. Mind body and pole has been certified as an approved pole dance school by the Pole Dance Community. This represents the highest level of professionalism and teaching quality within the pole dance fitness industry.
The Pole Dance Community would like to wish Leanne every success with her new studio :)
