The Pole Dance Community either Registers or Approves individual pole dancing instructors.
Additionally, if a school has all of its instructors Approved then it may display the Approved Dance School logo.
PDC Instructors will provide the PDC with copies of public liability, professional indemnity and first aid qualifications.
PDC Instructors will ensure that there are never more than 3 students to a pole when teaching.
PDC Instructors will only use safe pole dancing poles* and will happily disclose information about the type of poles used.
PDC Instructors will ensure that their poles are properly cleaned and maintained.
PDC Instructors will endeavour to provide a safe environment for their students (including a safe distance between poles).
PDC Instructors will not be exploitative and will aim to make their charges reasonable.
PDC Instructors must prohibit any student who is or is suspected of being under the influence of alcohol or drugs from participating in any pole dance session.
PDC Instructors will operate wholly within the laws applicable to them in their own jurisdiction.
PDC Instructors will display the PDC logo and link on their website, at their premises and on promotional material wherever possible.
* safe pole dancing poles are poles that are designed to accommodate the stresses and tensions imposed upon them by pole dancing. Safe pole dancing poles will be clean, well maintained and free from rust or other conditions that may be harmful to the user.
In all cases, the PDC instructor must ensure that their practices do not invalidate their insurance.
PDC Approved Events will ensure the public are accuratley informed about event details and will keep the PDC notified about any changes to such information.
PDC Approved Events will endeavour to put on events that portray the pole dancing industry in a positive light.
PDC Approved Events should have a clear mission statement so that all parties understand whether the event is marketed towards fitness or glamour.
PDC Approved Events will have a fair returns and refund policy on tickets and products and will have contingency plans in the event of cancellation.
PDC approved Events will ensure their literature and promotional material is honest and transparent. Where prizes may be awarded the event organiser will be responsible for ensuring that those prizes are received by any winners.
PDC Approved Events should ensure that if their event is competition based, all performers and judges have been given copies of rules, regulations and judging criteria prior to the event and with as much notice as possible. Copies of these rules should also be available to any other interested parties. Changes to such rules should be communicated to all relevant parties as soon as possible.
PDC Approved Events will make a clear statement to all relevant parties about photography and video footage taken at their events. All concerned should be aware of what footage / images will be available after the event and what prices, if any, will be charged for such information. Model disclaimers should be signed where needed.
PDC Approved Events will use only safe, clean poles event organisers will be happy to share information about the type of poles being used as well as the dimensions of the poles being used. Poles should be tested prior to the commencement of the event to ensure they are fit for purpose.
PDC Approved Events will ensure that safe, clean changing areas are provided for performers/competitors/students.
PDC Approved Events will endeavour to ensure to run on time as advertised. Performers should know what time they are likely to perform so they can warm up effectively before their performance. Door opening times should also be adhered to.
PDC Approved Events will have adequate employers and/or public liability insurance for their events.
PDC Approved Events will ensure they have adequate, qualified security staff if required.
PDC Approved Events will have adequate provisions for administering first aid.
PDC Approved Events will have adequate fire regulations in place and will have a specific fire risk assessment.
PDC Approved Avents will be fully risk assessed.
N.B. In some instances where an event organiser hires a venue they may not be directly responsible for issues such as security, fire exits etc. In these situations the PDC requires that organisers check that the venue has effective protocols in place.
